Our Anniversary Universal Studios Trip

Our Anniversary Day Trip to Universal Studios

February 25th marks a special day for us – our anniversary! This year, we celebrated 30 years together and 24 years of marriage. The day began with roses, breakfast in bed, and exchanging heartfelt cards.

For our 30/24 anniversary, we chose a simple yet exciting day trip to Universal Studios Orlando. As Universal Orlando Annual Passholders (UOAP), we often find ourselves drawn to this magical place for our monthly travels. It's our go-to spot for fun and relaxation, and our anniversary was the perfect excuse to visit again.

We had dinner reservations at Bigfire, a place that always impresses us with its food and service. We kicked things off with drinks – I enjoyed a refreshing Lakeside Punch while my husband sipped on a Blackberry Citrus. Then came our usual appetizer, the Bourbon cheese fondue with gluten-free bread – absolutely delicious!

For our main course, we decided to switch things up. My husband savored the Dutch Oven Beef Burgundy, and I opted for the Bell and Evans Maple Chicken. I'm usually not a fan of chicken breast, but this dish was moist, tender, and bursting with flavor. A pleasant surprise indeed!

Post-dinner, we strolled into the park. Being pass holders and regulars we are often in no rush to get to anything in the park. Even though we have express passes with our annual pass and are grateful to have them in case we decide to ride that day, we often skip the rides and simply enjoy the ambiance, exploring new attractions and revisiting our favorite spots.

Our first stop was the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, my personal favorite. We timed it perfectly to see the dragon breathe fire in Diagon Alley, which for those curious, it goes off every 10 minutes starting on the hour. After soaking in the atmosphere, we popped into Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes for some window shopping. We couldn't resist picking up chocolate frogs and Butterbeer Fudge – which, by the way, pairs wonderfully with a cold Butterbeer!

After leaving the Wizarding World of Harry Potter we continued our stroll around the park heading in the direction of Men in Black. It was a lovely casual stroll and during our walk, we decided to stop in at the Five and Dime to pick up our UOAP Magnets and head home before the Universal's Marti Gras parade started, with plans to skip it this trip and include it in next months visit. Well, the Universe had other plans.

We miscalculated the parade time and found ourselves amidst the festivities. my husband thought it was supposed to start at 6:30 pm, which with the plan we had just made, we would've had plenty of time to get through and out of there just before the parade started. Well, we had the time wrong... It started at 6:15 pm that day and it was 6:19 pm.

However, what was initially an oversight turned into a fun bead-catching competition between my husband and I, so fun was still had! We did eventually make our way to the Five and Dime store to pick up our UOAP Magnets after the Parade ended in Hollywood, and then we continued on our way out of the park.

Nope, not yet. As we were coming up on exiting Hollywood, the beginning of the parade was making its way back around. So we hurriedly found a spot and continued our bead-catching competition. It was a tie, we both caught eight. After the parade concluded we were able to make our way to the Exit and head to City Walk.

Before leaving City Walk we decided to Stop in one of the many Universal gift shops and pick up some swag before making our way to the parking garages and heading home.

Celebrating 24 Years of Marriage: A Journey from Friendship to Everlasting Love

It feels like just yesterday when my family made the move to sunny Florida, and there he was—a friend who would soon become my everything. Fast forward a few years, and we took the plunge from friends to something more; we started dating 30 years ago. And now, here we are, celebrating 24 beautiful years of marriage.

Our kids, once the center of our bustling household, have grown up and set out on their own adventures, leaving us in the quiet but exciting phase of being "empty nesters." We're embracing this time with open arms, filling our days with quality moments, embarking on new adventures, and engaging in those deep, soul-nourishing conversations that have always been a staple of our relationship. Together, we're ticking off all those dreams we used to talk about for hours on end.

I am overwhelmed with gratitude for every year, every day, every moment we've shared. He's not just an amazing husband and partner, but also a wonderful father, and my pride knows no bounds when I think of how much we've grown together. Our weirdness, our perfectly imperfect life, our rock-solid friendship, and our unconditional love for each other are the things I cherish the most.

Sure, the last 30 years haven't been flawless—because let's face it, perfection is a myth. But what I love most is our resilience, our unwavering commitment to never give up on each other, always finding a way through any challenge.

So here's to us, to 30 years of love, 24 years of marriage, and a lifetime of memories still to come. Happy Anniversary to my incredible husband, my rock, and my adventure buddy, Craig. I love you always and forever to infinity and beyond. 💖💖💖

2024 Rolex 24 Hour Race

My Unforgettable Weekend at the Rolex 24 in Daytona

This year's Rolex 24-hour race in Daytona was an adventure I'll never forget. My husband and I, along with our daughter and her boyfriend, made the trip to Orlando Florida for this thrilling event. We stayed in a room with a stunning ocean view at the Boardwalk Hotel on A1A. Waking up to watch the sunrise each morning was a special treat since we're more accustomed to sunsets back home in Southwest Florida.

We arrived on Friday afternoon, buzzing with excitement. Our first night tradition is always dinner at Joe's Crab Shack, and it didn't disappoint. The next day, Saturday, started with breakfast at IHOP - their gluten-free pancakes are a must for me! With full bellies, we headed to the track, hopping on the trams that took us straight to the infield. There, we got an up-close look at the sleek cars and focused drivers along pit road before the opening ceremonies kicked off.

One of the coolest things we did was sign the start-finish line, leaving our mark among the many racing fans. Then, we found our seats in the stands just in time for the roar of engines signaling the start of the race. After watching several laps, we couldn't resist visiting the nearest gift shop to grab some race swag. We also explored the museum and had a delicious dinner at PF Changs across from the track in Daytona One. To top it off, we enjoyed a refreshing cold brew from Foxtail Coffee Co.

The infield festivities were calling our names, so we took a spin on the Ferris wheel and strolled through the garages. As dusk fell, we returned to the stands, the perfect spot to watch the mesmerizing fireworks light up the night sky. Exhausted but happy, we retreated to our hotel to rest up for another day.

Sunday greeted us with another beautiful sunrise. After sharing breakfast at IHOP with our daughter and her boyfriend, they had to say goodbye. But for my husband and me, the race wasn't over. We zipped back to the track on the trams, eager to check out the car tents and pick up even more memorabilia. The highlight was watching the winners triumphantly roll into the winner's circle after the checkered flag waved.

Our journey didn't end there. We drove to Orlando and stayed at the Adventura, taking a bus to City Walk. Dinner at Mythos Restaurant in Islands of Adventure was fantastic, and a leisurely ferry ride brought us back to our resort. By then, we were ready to collapse into bed, utterly spent from the weekend's excitement.

Monday came too soon, and after grabbing Starbucks and breakfast in the lobby, we checked out, our hearts full of memories from an incredible race weekend. But the adventure wasn't over just yet! We had one more stop on our itinerary for our extended weekend adventure.

We set off to explore the Titanic Experience on International Drive. This had been on our must-do bucket list for ages, and we finally managed to fit it into our Orlando adventure. We were so excited to check out the exhibits, artifacts, and all the historical treasures. The Titanic Experience definitely did not disappoint and I recommend adding it to your itinerary the next time you're visiting Orlando. Afterwards, we couldn't resist picking up some swag from their gift shop, rounding off our trip with a little piece of history to take home.

As we drove back home, reflecting on the whirlwind of experiences, I couldn't help but feel grateful for the time spent with family and the new memories etched into our hearts. From the adrenaline-pumping Rolex 24 race to the serene sunrise views and the historical journey aboard the Titanic Experience, this weekend was more than just a getaway; it was a treasure trove of moments that will last a lifetime. If you ever get the chance to attend the Rolex 24 or visit Daytona Beach, take it! It's an adventure that's sure to leave you with unforgettable stories to tell. Maybe we'll see you there next year!

My current thoughts on Social Media's Toxicity

My current thoughts on Social Media's Toxicity

Social media comment sections have become such a cesspool of judgemental hatred and unsolicited opinions. Nobody can post anything anymore without someone coming to the comment sections to interject their two cents even when a question wasn't even asked.

And don't even think about posting your own opinion on your own personal profile about something you like or are happy about that people may not agree with because you will most definitely get people commenting their, again; unsolicited and unwanted opposing opinions and ruining your personal, joyful post. Because these people don't know how to just agree to disagree and scroll on... Which In case you were unaware is incredibly annoying and disrespectful.

For the most part, unless asked I really try to keep my opinions to myself these days and sometimes even when asked, because I despise arguing and debating with people, I find it to be a complete waste of my time and energy! And I don't have the energy or time to waste. Nothing they say ever changes my mind and nothing I say ever changes their mind, so it just goes in circles and is completely pointless.

Nobody seems to have manners, respect, or even the tiniest notion of netiquette anymore. And it's destroyed the whole purpose of social media.

Here, I'll give you a quick little lesson. If you see something on your timeline you don't like, first of all remember, that person trusts you to be a part of their world and has basically invited you into their "home" which is why they added you as a friend and you are seeing their post on your timeline. With that said you have a couple of options here:

1. Ignore it and keep scrolling

2. Mute/unfollow the person's posts. You'll still be "friends" but their posts and/or stories will no longer show up on your timeline. You then have the option to mentally prepare yourself before going to their profile to check in on them, knowing you are probably going to see something you don't like, but at least you go into it knowing that, instead of it just randomly popping up on your timeline and you weren't expecting it. Again if you do see something you don't like refer to #1 or you can move on to #3.

3. Delete/block person. Just simply remove the person from your life.

I also block pages that people frequently share from if it's topics I'm not interested in seeing, like religion, politics...etc. So everything else they post I can still see, I just won't see anything from those pages they like to share from that are of no interest to me.

See, lots of options, I use all three regularly because I do not come here to argue, debate, or get angry over the stupid things people post. I come on in my spare/downtime while trying to relax for a moment. I'm here to keep up with friends and family since this is how it's done these days. I'm here to see what amazing things you have going on in your life, watch your children grow, and celebrate your accomplishments and milestones with you.

I am most definitely not there to fight, argue or debate with anyone!

I know I'm probably talking to a brick wall but I needed to get that off my chest, social media is such a toxic environment anymore, I remember what it was like when it first started and I kinda miss those days...

Struggles and Triumphs: A Year of Challenges and Learning 2023 A Year in Review

Struggles and Triumphs: A Year of Challenges and Learning

2023 A Year in Review

It's been quite a while since I last posted here. I can't believe 2023 is almost over already. And what a year it has been! The year 2023 has brought with it numerous challenges that have demanded a lot of my time and attention.

I'd like to share some personal insights with you about the struggles and challenges that I've personally faced this past year, and how they've impacted my life.

Weathering the Storm

The year started off with an enormous challenge – recovering from the damages caused by Hurricane Ian in September 2022. The processes of dealing with insurance companies, public adjusters, contractors, and inspectors were exhausting enough, and then getting the funds released by the mortgage companies' insurance claims department to advance with the remaining repairs has been another beast altogether. Hopefully, 2024 will see our repairs completed!

Juggling Business and Homefront

Imagine being responsible for managing all operations of not one or two, but five business entities. That's right, I have also been single-handedly managing five business entities while also maintaining and managing our home and all that entails. Talk about wearing many hats at once! It’s been a balancing act of Herculean proportions for sure!!

Losses and Life Changes

2023 was marked with grief as well - we lost two cherished members of our family. My father-in-law passed away in March, then in August, we had another loss when my daughter's beloved furbaby and my grandpup Bella passed away in August. It has been painful and full of grief as we all cope with this new chapter and learn to live without them, and all the changes in our daily lives as a result of their absence.

My adult children were also going through significant life changes; all of which sent ripples through our family dynamic. One such wave was one of them tying the knot in September 2023. Although these changes began before 2023, their repercussions most definitely extended into the year.

Battling Health Issues

Throughout all these upheavals, I’ve been dealing with my own inner demons and physical health issues. My mental health has been severely impacted, and my SLE Lupus and Fibromyalgia flared up incessantly. The continuous flares have led to constant severe pain and inflammation throughout my entire body. This, in turn, has greatly affected my weight, triggering a dip in my self-esteem and self-worth.

However, as always I'm refusing to yield. I'm actively working on strategies and exploring alternative methods to cope with and hopefully regain control over my health – physically, mentally, and emotionally. I'm eager to share more about these methods with you in future posts!

Looking Forward and Being Optimistic

Despite the tumultuous year, I remain hopeful and optimistic for what's to come in 2024. This new year, one of my goals is to be more present here on the blog and to make more time for hobbies that bring me joy, and generally, to make life more fun.

Through my journey of recovery, growth, and transformation, I see plenty of potential and opportunities up ahead. I believe the experiences this past year have strengthened me and equipped me better for future challenges.

Here's to a new year filled with promising possibilities and lessons to learn from our past experiences!

Keep smiling and stay healthy, everyone. Till next time, Love and Light!

I have been working on and planning out my 2023 intentions and I have put a lot of time into figuring out my word for 2023. Since before the new year started the word TRANSFORMATION kept showing itself to me. As persistent as this word has continued to be along with the numbers 1111 & 111 I'm starting to think that the Universe already decided what my word and number was going to be for this chapter of my life, I just needed to catch up...lol. As soon as I acknowledged and accepted this I actually felt a shift, I guess that means the transformation has begun. I'm ready!

Learning to love myself, healing mentally and emotionally, overcoming childhood trauma, and even self induced trauma from past choices. Taking that long hard look in the "mirror" and realizing that in some cases along your life's journey, you were the toxic one... Evolving and growing into my ideal version of myself. Becoming the person who I always felt I was deep inside, but too insecure and concerned of others judgement to be unapologetically myself, is by far one of the hardest journeys I have ever embarked on.

I have started this journey many times and made great strides and progress only to sabotage myself and allow myself to get distracted, sidetracked and derailed from my progress and ultimately regress, too many times. I don't want to fall into old patterns and old paradigms that don't serve me anymore. I want to live my life happy and healthy and full of abundance, without fear of disappointing others and/or the fear of not being enough. I want to be surrounded by unconditional love and people who love, accept and support me not just for who I am today, but who I will be tomorrow, a year from now, and in all my levels of growth and evolution.

I am not the child you remember, I am also not who I was in my teens, my 20's nor my 30's. I am not who I was when I entered my 40's, nor am I who I was a year ago, a month ago, a week ago or even yesterday. Because even though I have fallen off track many times some growth and progress still remained. Like climbing stairs, even though I've stumbled and fell back a few, I always catch myself before I hit the ground. I dust myself off, evaluate where I am, where I want to go, then start climbing again!

I am on a journey to not only be the best version of me that I can be, I'm also on a journey to love myself unconditionally.

This Post Inspired by a Ophelia Nichols Video from Friday, September 23, 2022

I just love her so much. She's also very right, and her words of wisdom should be heard. Too many of us look on the other sides of the fence instead of nurturing and building our own.

I know I personally spent many years comparing my life to others and feeling like I was a disappointment, that I wasn't doing enough or being enough or just not enough in general in others' eyes, which is a childhood trauma that I'm still working on healing from as many of us are.

I stopped comparing my life and worrying about whether I was living up to others ideas of perfection a long time ago! However, those feelings of being a disappointment and not being enough still lingered because I wasn't being mindful enough of who I allowed to have access to my energy. If there is anyone in your life that makes you feel like you are a disappointment and/or not enough, family, friend, acquaintance...etc, please distance yourself from them. Because your mental health is more important than their feelings and if you allow it, they will slow your healing and progress to being your best self!

My life is far from perfect, I've made my fair share of mistakes over the years and it most definitely has its ups and downs just like everyone else's, but it's mine and I'm going to make it the best life I possibly can and I hope that I can encourage others to do the same. Also, I AM enough just the way I am!

When listening to '101 Essays that will Change the way You Think' ~ Brianna Wiest, that I got for free on Audible by using one of my free credits, and it's exactly what you needed to hear.

It's like every chapter thus far was like she was referring to you personally and describing exactly where you are on your life's journey and growth! I really needed to hear and be reminded of all of it, very therapeutic for sure. The Universe putting exactly what I needed to hear, learn and be reminded of directly in my path to find!

Every time I get back on track and on the path I'm meant to be on things like this and so much more happens all the time. The amazing things and experiences that I manifest and attract to me are amazing and life changing. It makes one wonder why on Earth would I not only veer off this path but actively choose to stay off the path and sink into the darkest corners of my mind and emotional abyss?

That is of course a rhetorical question, I am already aware of the answer and am actively working on it. I'm just thinking out "loud"...lol

If you haven't read and/or listened to this before, I highly recommend it!

This! After reading this page it sparked some thoughts, so I thought I'd share a bit. In trying to reprogram my thought processes to stop getting stuck on and dwelling in the negatives in this world, and any negative influences of anyone around me. I try desperately to focus on the things I love, and that brings me joy. I have no desire to focus on what I don't want or what doesn't bring me joy yet the mind seems to default there and to rewrite this programming most of us learned from the beginning is not an easy task. I'm constantly checking my thoughts and redirecting them. It definitely takes practice.

Recently I've been posting Halloween/Fall related posts on my personal Facebook. I know some of my friends don't appreciate them, but I also know based on my timeline, most of my friends feel the same way and I'm posting them for me and my like-minded people. 😉 The Ber months are my personal favorite time of the year, Fall specifically, and I get genuinely excited and happy to decorate my home for these holidays. Home decor is something I enjoy and holiday decor is something I LOVE. I have a tremendous mood shift this time of the year and I love to fully embrace that shift and live in that feeling.

This is the time of year I don't have to force it, because there is so much for me to love, and find joy in. I know not everyone feels this way and that's okay, you have your own special journey to find what sparks love and happiness deep in your soul and it's up to you and you alone to pave your path. 💖

Bite Beauty Upswing Full-Volume Mascara Review

Bite Beauty Upswing Full-Volume Mascara Review
This website contains paid affiliate links, please read our Advertising Disclosure Statement.

Bite Beauty just launched their new Upswing Full-Volume Mascara and thanks to Influenster and Bite Beauty I was lucky enough to be selected to receive it complimentary before its launch date to test it out.

I've been using it for a few weeks now so I thought I'd share with you my thoughts about this mascara. Let me say first that I am very brand-specific when it comes to my mascara, I've tried many and like very few...

So let's look at some ingredients and what Bite Beauty claims this product can do:

Upswing full volume mascara is powered by tree berry Wax which claims give your lashes a buildable yet lightweight volume.

Upswing full volume mascara claims to be volumizing, lengthening, lifting, curl enhancing, smudge resistant, and flake resistant.

Upswing full volume mascara is full-bodied and boosts an hourglass-shaped brush that claims to bring out the best in every lash.

Upswing full volume mascara is clean, vegan, cruelty-free, and gluten-free.

So, what's my take away on this Upswing Full-Volume Mascara by Bite Beauty? Well, I love it! This mascara held up to each and every claim and did what it said it would!

I love the sleek gold packaging and the size of the mascara tube is perfect. A few of my favorite things about this mascara is the lengthening effect, the deep color, and how lightweight it is. My only con is the application wand and that's only because I am personally not a fan of the hourglass style wands. However, I still love this mascara and will continue to use it.

In my before and after picture there was no eyelash curler used and this is after only one coat of the Upswing Full-Volume Mascara by Bite Beauty. MSRP $28

I received these products complimentary from Influenster for testing purposes. this is my honest review all thoughts and opinions are my own.
